"I’m disappointed..." - Frank Lampard releases statement after Everton sacking

"I’m disappointed..." - Frank Lampard releases statement after Everton sacking

Frank Lampard broke his silence on Instagram.

Frank Lampard has broken his silence on social media after he was sacked by Everton earlier this week.

Lampard, who was appointed Everton manager last January, was relieved of his managerial duties following the club's 2-0 defeat to West Ham United.

He leaves them in the relegation zone, with just 15 points on the board, having lost 11 games in the Premier League this season.

The Chelsea legend has since taken to Instagram to release a statement, revealing his 'disappointment' that he couldn't achieve more.

"Coming in to Everton last year I knew we were in a tough moment and I will always be proud of the incredible work and support from everyone involved to keep the team in the Premier League last season," he wrote, accompanied with a picture of himself celebrating in front of fans at Goodison Park.

"Thanks to everybody that played their part as the whole club came together. I will never forget the incredible night against Palace that we shared. I want to thank all Evertonians for the welcome that you gave to myself, my staff, and my family. It truly is a special club with a huge heart, and an incredible history.

"I’m disappointed that we couldn’t achieve more together and wish all the players and everyone at Everton FC the very best for the future."

Jurgen Klopp has shared his thoughts on Lampard's sacking ahead of their clash next month.

He referenced the sale of Richarlison and the injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, stating he'll be back in management.

"That's the business. Last year was not easy but he did well," he said. "Lost Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin, we know how injuries can impact the season in decisive positions. We in the job have to accept that. He'll be back, he's a young coach."

Everton aren't in action this weekend having been eliminated from the FA Cup.

The Toffees resume their faltering league campaign at home to Arsenal on February 4, before taking on cross-town rivals Liverpool at Anfield.
