Fulham aim cheeky dig at Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after 'dry pitch' comments

Klopp complained about the playing surface after Saturday's 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage.

Fulham have aimed a cheeky dig at Jurgen Klopp after the Liverpool boss complained that the pitch was too dry during Saturday's Premier League match at Craven Cottage.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice as newly-promoted Fulham held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw in their first game back in the Premier League.

After the match, Klopp praised Fulham's performance and admitted his side were well below par.

But he was also mocked for claiming that the pitch was too dry during the match.

"The best thing about the game is the result," Klopp told BT Sport after full-time.

"A really bad game. How can that happen? The attitude was not right in the beginning.

"We tried to react after 15 minutes. The pitch was dry, stuff like this. Really difficult."

Klopp has developed a reputation for finding excuses for his Liverpool side after poor results.

The German was mocked by rival fans on social media after his latest comments and Fulham have now twisted the knife.

The west London club posted a picture to Twitter of several sprinklers watering the pitch at their home stadium, alongside the caption: "The Craven Cottage turf looking absolutely lush yesterday", followed by the water emoji.

Fulham's cheeky tweet has gone down a hit with supporters on social media.

"Hahahahaa yessss it wasn’t too dry was it lads," wrote one fan on Twitter.

Another added: "10/10 tweet this."

Fulham will hope to continue their impressive start to the season when they face Wolves away from home on Saturday.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will look to bounce back when they host Crystal Palace next Monday.
