Thomas Partey is supposed to be focusing on Ghana's crucial two-legged World Cup playoff tie against bitter rivals Nigeria. But when you bump into yourself, it's hard to keep your concentration.

The Arsenal midfielder is on international duty with the Ghanaians, and a hilarious social media post from one of his teammates shows the humorous moment Partey met a mysterious fan who looks freakishly like the former Atlético Madrid ace.

Ghana teammate Daniel-Kofi Kyereh posted an Instagram clip of Partey stood next to an unknown man who looks astonishingly similar to Partey himself. Partey is admittedly much taller, but they share a likeness in their faces, hair styles and beards.

The best part of all was Kyereh's hilarious caption. The Ghana international posed a photo of the pair posing with each other, and he dubbed them 'Thomas Partey & Thomas After Partey'. A top-class nickname.

Among some very witty reactions on Twitter was a particularly clever comment from an Arsenal supporter, who said: "The way he's been playing so well recently, it looks like there are two of him on the pitch, now we know the truth.

"Of course, now the secret is out, we'll get punished for fielding 12 players - it'll probably be a fine, docked a couple of points and Xhaka will be booked.

Ghana earned a 0-0 draw in the home leg of their crucial tie against Nigeria in Kumasi. They visit the Super Eagles in the decisive leg in Abuja on Tuesday.

Partey is joined by fellow Premier League players Daniel Amartey of Leicester City and Jordan Ayew of Crystal Palace in the Ghana squad, while the Nigerians can call on seven Premier League stars.

Only five African sides can qualify for the 2022 World Cup, with the other play-off ties also being decided this month.

That makes African qualifying very competitive indeed - hence big-hitters Ivory Coast not even making it to this final stage.
