Jese Rodriguez Has Been Given A Ligue 1 Medal After Playing Just One Minute

The PSG player has been on loan at Sporting for most of the season but did feature briefly way back in August.

PSG owned forward Jese Rodriguez has been awarded a Ligue 1 winners medal, after playing just one minute of football at the end of August before leaving the club.

Rodriguez, who moved to PSG from Real Madrid for €25 million in 2016, has never settled in the French capital and was sent on loan to Sporting on September 2nd, where his loan ended in March.

However back in August the Spaniard came on for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the 90th minute in a game against Metz, just three days before his loan spell started.

LFP regulations mean that, unlike the Premier League where players need five appearances, even his extremely short time on the pitch for PSG means he's qualified for a medal, after the decision to end the season and award Thomas Tuchel's side the title.

It isn't even the first time he's won a league title after playing just one game of football. In 2011/12 he did exactly the same for Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid.

Rodriguez came on as a substitute for Cristiano Ronaldo with 10 minutes to go of a 5-1 against Real Sociedad in March 2012, with that cameo also delivering him a league title winner's medal.

The Spaniard also has two Champions League winners medals without playing a single second of the two finals for Los Blancos, in 2014 and 2016.

A lot was expected of the 27-year-old at the beginning of his career and he won the Golden Boot at the Under 19s Euros in 2012 as Spain won the tournament for the second time in-a-row.

He made 94 appearances in all competitions for Real, scoring 18 times, before moving to Paris in 2016. He has played just 16 games, scoring twice, for the Ligue 1 champions though.

During his spell as a PSG player Jese has been on loan at Las Palmas, Stoke City, Real Betis and Sporting without much success.

The Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons were ended earlier this week when the French prime minister Edouard Philippe announced there would be no sports events until September at the earliest.

The decision was then made to confirm PSG, who had a 12 point lead on their closest rivals, as champions. Toulon and Amiens have been relegated whilst European places have also been decided, leaving Lyon without Champions League or Europa League football next season.
