Harry Redknapp had a brilliant response for one player who asked him about a goal bonus after he signed for him.

The 71-year-old manager made an appearance on BT Sport and recalled one exchange that he had with a footballer.

While the former Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth boss didn't name the player or the club that it happened at, his response to the striker was nothing short of hilarious.

"I signed a player once," he said, before adding: "Top player. Fantastic player.

"We'd done the deal, then he wanted a goal bonus. He was a striker. I said: 'What do you think we're paying you 50 grand a week for, to miss them?'"

What a t'riffic response from Redknapp.

"Harry is a legend. The last of the old school," one Twitter user wrote.

Another tweeted: "He has a point, though!"

A third said: "Can't argue with that."

A fourth added: "Love listening to old Harry, absolute leg[end] of the game."

Of course, it's hardly surprising that fans are trying to figure out the footballer Redknapp is referring to on this occasion.

However, most users have narrowed their choices down to former Spurs strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe.

Redknapp has won many people over after he entered I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! last year. He ended up winning ITV's hit reality TV show after he beat John Barrowman and Emily Atack in the final.

Will Redknapp return to football management in 2019?
