‘I don’t like watching them play, they’re boring’, Gabby Agbonlahor slams Chelsea in sensational rant

‘I don’t like watching them play, they’re boring’, Gabby Agbonlahor slams Chelsea in sensational rant

Chelsea recorded a narrow win over West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

Gabby Agbonlahor has launched a sensational attack on Chelsea and has branded Thomas Tuchel’s side as ‘boring’.

Chelsea had to dig deep at Stamford Bridge as they managed to come from 1-0 down to win 2-1 against West Ham.

Michail Antonio had put the visitors ahead in the 63rd minute but the home side equaliser through left back Ben Chilwell in the 76th minute.

Substitute Kai Havertz nudged Chelsea in front with two minutes remaining. With the clock ticking into the last few minutes, a huge controversy happened after Maxwel Cornet’s goal for West Ham was chalked off after a lengthy VAR check.

Referee Andy Madley felt that Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy was fouled by Jarrod Bowen, but the replays seemed to show otherwise.

Chelsea got away with it as they recorded a much needed victory.

After the game, former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor ripped into Chelsea whilst speaking on talkSPORT.

He said: “You know what it is, I look at what they’ve spend. Chelsea have spent, this summer, a record for the Premier League, £260 million.

“They have to finish in the top two for me, top four is not enough. £260 million! And they are scraping pass, with the help of VAR.”

The former England international then stated that Chelsea’s football has become boring under Tuchel

Agbonlahor added: “I don’t like watching them play football, it’s boring. Today was boring, the first half, boring boring Chelsea. Last season I was saying it.

“The Chelsea fans agreed mid week, watching them at the moment is boring football.

“The five at the back, it’s not working.”

In his post match interview, Tuchel said: “We wanted to restart the season today and hopefully the way we did it in a home game and with the impact from the bench gives us the belief back, the confidence back that you need to play at the highest level.”

Hammers boss David Moyes was critical of the officials after the VAR controversy, he said: “I think I question VAR today as much as the referee. The referee should have stuck to his own guns and been big enough to do what he said.

“I've had a chance to look at three or four angles, which they have, so there is no excuse for VAR. Today there is no excuse for that not to be a goal, none whatsoever.”

Next up for the Stamford Bridge club will be Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday as they kick off their Champions League campaign.
