Some big news is developing from the world of gaming, with the possibility of 2K acquiring the FIFA license to use across its own popular series of titles.
A deal is unlikely to be struck between EA and FIFA any time soon, with EA already trademarking the name of "EA Sports FC".
Meanwhile, FIFA has not ruled out the possibility of striking new deals with rival games publishers, opening the door for the likes of 2K.
There have already been a number of smash-hit sports titles on the market from 2K, which includes: NBA 2K series, PGA Tour 2K, and WWE 2K.

2K boss Strauss Zelnick remained coy on the prospect of entering the football market in an earnings call with investors. This was transcribed by VGC, with the quotes used by The Metro.
Zelnick avoided the question initially by discussing the Top Eleven title, which is now under the 2K family, after it purchased the game's developer, Nordeus. But he refused to rule out the possibility of doing a deal with FIFA.
"We are so thrilled to have Nordeus in the Take-Two family.

"They're just crushing it and Top Eleven is a great, beloved title. I just couldn't be happier to be in the soccer manager business through Top Eleven with the Nordeus team.
"That's a big step forward for us as we haven't been in that sport before. And erm, I think I'll leave it at that today."
These developments have stemmed from the original fallout between EA and FIFA, with the latter wanting to charge the other double the amount for the licence - $1bn+ every 4 years.

EA would also be inhibited in terms of monetising the franchise beyond the game itself. This means that FIFA 22 is almost certainly going to be last game in the series of its kind.
