Gareth Bale Finally Responds To Sensational Cardiff City Transfer Rumours

Gareth Bale Finally Responds To Sensational Cardiff City Transfer Rumours

Bale wants to keep fit for the World Cup.

Gareth Bale has refused to rule out a sensational transfer to Championship side Cardiff City.

The Wales international will leave Real Madrid at the end of this month and a number of clubs are interested in his signature.

Bale has previously been linked to hometown side Cardiff and it's well known he wants to stay in top physical condition ahead of the World Cup.

He emphatically ruled out a move to La Liga outfit Getafe on Friday but when asked about Cardiff, his answer was a lot more cryptic.

The 32-year-old explained: "I can't really say. I haven't really looked at everything yet. I have options. I don't have a timescale.

"I know possible destinations but it's something I need to sit down, first and foremost with my family, and then I need to speak with managers and physios and decide what's the best move for me, my family and my kids."

Bale didn't play much for Real this season, but remains an important part of Robert Page's Wales side.

The former Tottenham Hotspur winger played a vital role in their playoff win over Ukraine earlier this month, as it was his free-kick Andriy Yarmolenko turned home to give Wales victory.

It'll be their first World Cup in 64 years and perhaps the last chapter of Bale's storied career.

Cardiff are based at the same Vale of Glamorgan resort as the national team and it'd give Bale the perfect environment to rest and recover.

He's not played in the second tier since leaving Southampton for Spurs in 2007 but he's not ruled out dropping down again.

Bale continued: "It's something I guess I need to sit down and go through, not just with my family, but with the manager here (Page), with the physios here that we use, to see what would give me the best chance of being fit come November and December.

"I don't really know if the standard makes too much of a difference. A football game is a football game.

"I feel like I'll never really lose my quality on the ball. I guess it's a conversation to be had."

Wales return to action on Tuesday against the Netherlands in the Nations League.

They'll be hoping to avenge their 2-1 loss in the reverse fixture last week.
