Gareth Bale’s MLS Move Branded As ‘Lazy’ By Manchester United Fan

Gareth Bale’s MLS Move Branded As ‘Lazy’ By Manchester United Fan

Gareth Bale announced he will be joining Los Angeles Football Club in the MLS.

Gareth Bale shocked the football world when he announced that his next club will be MLS outfit Los Angeles FC.

The Welshman's announcement put the rumours of him heading into the Championship with Cardiff City to bed.

His move to America has been met with criticism, one Manchester United fan spoke to talkSPORT about his thoughts on Bale’s move to Los Angeles.

The fan, John said: “I don’t actually think it’s a great move, I think it is quite a lazy move.”

“I’m guessing he doesn’t have to do much of a pre season with LA, he can go there and coast, pick and choose his games. And then what? Is he suppose to turn it on like a tap for the World Cup?”

He added: “I get things don’t work out at clubs, and obviously in the end it went a bit sour at Real Madrid, he obviously had a great time there overall and won lots of trophies.”

“But I would have liked to see a little bit more drive from him, going over there(LA) I get the spotlight thing, but I just think it’s a lazy move I think he could have really pushed himself but he just obviously doesn’t want that.”

Former Wales striker Dean Saunders seems to agree with John, he told talkSPORT that Bale is still capable of playing at the highest level.

Saunders said: “I think he is good enough to play for the top six, he’d be good enough to be in the squad at Liverpool and Manchester City, bringing him on.”

“The quality he’s got he can play with top players, he is still quick.”

Bale left Real Madrid after nine trophy laden years at the Spanish capital, he has won five Champions League trophies along with three La Liga titles. In total, Bale made 258 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring 106 goals.

Towards the end of his time in Spain, the relationship between him and the fans turned sour, with many Madrid fans criticising Bale's contributions towards the team. Bale's appearances were limited due to injuries and struggling form.

He will now join Los Angeles FC who recently added Italy legend Giorgio Chiellini to their ranks, Bale’s debut is likely to be against local rivals LA Galaxy on 9 July.

The MLS season will end two weeks before Wales’ World Cup campaign get underway.

Bale’s deal runs till June 2023 but he has an option to extend for another 18 months should he and his family settle well into life in the US and Bale is enjoying his football.
