Latest England team news has fans shocked, there is a formation change

Gareth Southgate is preparing his team ahead of the match against Wales on Tuesday

The latest team news coming out of the England camp has got fans shocked as some are predicting that Gareth Southgate will change his formation for the match against Wales.

Going into the last round of matches in the group stage, the Three Lions are in pole position to finish top of Group B and secure a passage to the last 16.

After a 6-2 win against Iran and a 0-0 draw against the USA, Southgate’s team are currently top of their group with four points.

Only a defeat of four goals or more against Wales will throw England’s tournament into disarray.

As we edge closer to kick-off, team news has been filtering through.

It was reported on Monday that Southgate is likely to bring in Jordan Henderson for Jude Bellingham in midfield. Whilst Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker is expected to make his first appearance of the tournament after overcoming his injury.

However, a lot of England fans are not too keen on the news, with many claiming that Southgate will revert to his preferred five-at-the-back formation.

One fan said: “Here we go.. Jordan Henderson , Kyle Walker. Gareth couldn’t wait to go with 5 at the back and two holding again could he. Can’t wait.”

Another tweeted: “Kyle Walker means we're going back to a back 5.”

A third fan added: “Southgate to go 5 at the back so plucky England can stop the Welsh. As usual, he will revert to type. An out of his depth coach.”

Southgate is under intense scrutiny after his choice of substitutes during the draw against the USA.

Many fans were not happy with his decision to overlook the likes of Phil Foden and Trent Alexander Arnold when it was clear as day that England were lacking creativity.

However, Southgate has now insisted that Foden will play an important role in the tournament.

He told ITV: “We love Phil, he is a super player.

“He was into the first game, we decided not to put him into the second. But he is going to play an important part in this tournament for us, there is no question about that.”
