Gary Neville reacts to Gunners fans calling on petition to have him BANNED from commentating on Arsenal matches

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has responded to Arsenal fans calling on a petition to have him banned from commentating on their matches after the Gunners’ win over Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for United at the Emirates, but the Gunners fought back to build momentum on their Premier League title challenge.

Eddie Nketiah cancelled out Rashford’s opener seven minutes later to send Arsenal into half-time at 0-0 on Sunday.

However, Bukayo Saka fired Arsenal into the lead early in the second half before Lisandro Martinez pulled United back into the thrilling contest.

Arsenal walked away with the ultimate bragging rights from their Premier League rivalry with United after Nketiah scored the winner late in the second half.

The Gunners are five points clear of defending champions Manchester City, who defeated Wolves 3-0 thanks to Erling Haaland’s hat-trick, with a match in hand.

Neville, who has previously ruled out Arsenal’s title challenge, was on commentary duties for Sky during the Gunners’ 3-2 win over his former side.

However, the United legend annoyed Gunners fans and left one fan-made Twitter account to call for a petition to ban Neville from commentary on Arsenal matches.

The tweet, from The Arsenal Therapy Show Twitter account, amassed a whopping 18,000 likes and over 1,000 retweets at the time of writing.

Neville took to Twitter and hilariously offered to sign a petition calling for him to be banned, with the former United defender claiming he was “fair” during the match.

“I will sign it! Thought I was fair yesterday as well,” he tweeted.

Neville once again reiterated that he doesn’t believe Arsenal will maintain their momentum for the rest of the season and lift the Premier League title.

The 47-year-old pundit insisted that City “will be right on their shoulders” if Arsenal begin to drop points and believes Pep Guardiola’s men have a “special run” in them.

“I don’t see them going on to win the league,” Neville said.

“I think Manchester City will win the league because I think what they’ve got in them is a special run.

“I think that at a point in the season Arsenal will lose one or two matches and City will be right on their shoulders and it’ll become very difficult for them.

“But they could win the league and, to be honest with you, I thought they’d be nowhere near.

“I can’t believe they’re in the chat. The fact they’re in the chat of winning the league is incredible, so it’s not a negative thing for me to say.”
