Gary Neville raves about Chelsea new boy Mykhailo Mudryk after only 10 minutes of watching him

Gary Neville raves about Chelsea new boy Mykhailo Mudryk after only 10 minutes of watching him

Mykhailo Mudryk made his Chelsea debut today and impressed Gary Neville among others with his energetic appearance.

Sky Sports pundit and ex-Manchester United full-back Gary Neville was very impressed by Mykhailo Mudryk's debut against Liverpool.

Neville took to Twitter to sing his praises for the Ukrainian winger, saying: "Seeing Mudryk for 10 mins I wouldn't like to play against him!"

The 22-year-old only came off the bench in the 55th minute, but he was arguably the game's brightest spark and biggest talking point.

Mudryk's first touch in English football was a heavy one, but the youngster slowly grew into the game as time went on. He glided into the opposition box, skipping past two defenders before unleashing a shot that went narrowly wide, getting the travelling away fans out of their seats.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has been under immense pressure following his appointment as the team simply have not been getting results on the pitch, and performances have been dire. However, with the help of Todd Boehly's chequebook, Chelsea have been spending freely in this January transfer window with stars such as Joao Felix and Benoit Badiashile joining among others.

Mudryk put pen-to-paper on an eight year deal at Stamford Bridge, and his performance today showed fans what they can expect from him. Graham Potter was impressed with what he saw as well.

Potter said to BT Sport: "He's not played football for a while, he's been on a mid-season break so we had to manage his minutes. He's still in that phase but I think you can see he's got quality, I thought he had a good impact on the game."

Mudryk was signed earlier this month from Shakhtar in a swift move by Chelsea, as the player seemed destined to go to Arsenal with constant flirting on social media and hinting.

Chelsea paid Shakhtar £62m for the winger with £26.5m in add-ons to bring the deal close to £90 million, the figure that Arsenal refused to get to, therefore losing their biggest target.

Arsenal have signed a solid second choice though in Leandro Trossard, who came from Brighton for £27 million. We will have to wait and see which signing works out better, as despite Trossard's experience in the Premier League and ability, Mudryk looks like he could be the real deal at Chelsea.
