Graeme Souness identifies TWO key deciding factors for an effective Man United Premier League title challenge

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has said it is “not impossible” for Manchester United to win the Premier League title after their 3-0 win over Leicester City.

In-form United star Marcus Rashford scored a brace and Jadon Sancho scored the Red Devils’ third as Erik ten Hag’s men sealed all three points at Old Trafford.

United have seen a remarkable turnaround this season under manager Ten Hag, with the Red Devils in sensational form since the end of the 2022 World Cup.

Ten Hag’s side are third in the table after 24 matches and are three points behind defending Premier League champions Manchester City.

United are only five points behind league leaders Arsenal, but Mikel Arteta’s men have a Premier League match in hand over the Red Devils and City.

Speaking after United’s win over Leicester City, Souness suggested that there would be only two key factors that could see Ten Hag defy the odds in a title challenge.

The talkSPORT and Sky Sports pundit believes that both City and Arsenal would have to suffer an “incredible collapse” for United to win the league title.

And Souness added that United would need to keep Rashford, who has been in stunning goalscoring form, fit for a chance to mount an effective league challenge.

“It’s not impossible, I very much doubt it. I think several things would have to happen,” he said on Sky Sports.

“City and Arsenal would have to have an incredible collapse, they’d have to fall off a cliff. I don’t think that will happen.

“From United’s point of view, for them to continue to win games, they have to keep their main man fit and that’s Marcus Rashford. He isn’t finished. Keep him fit and they have a chance.

“But Arsenal and Man City, they’re not going to collapse, not in that manner.”
