Harry Kane’s big money Nike boot deal has reportedly been put on hold due to Erling Haaland’s stunning start to the season.
Tottenham Hotspur star man Kane was scheduled to renew his deal with Nike after the World Cup, but talks regarding the extension have reportedly stalled in recent months after the impressive displays from Haaland since his move to Manchester City in the summer.
It shows the draw that the 22-year-old has even though he will not be present in the World Cup as his country failed to qualify.
As a result, it has been reported that Kane’s new deal with Nike could be in danger as it has currently been put on hold as Nike are planning to lure Haaland across to represent their brand.
England captain Kane, who won the Golden Boot as England reached the semi finals of the 2018 World Cup is yet to sign any deal with Nike’s competitors such as Adidas, New Balance and Puma.
Since his £51 million arrival at the Etihad Stadium, Haaland has shown the world exactly how good he is.
In just 10 appearances across all competition, the 22-year-old has already scored 14 goals as he looks unstoppable and unplayable every time he steps onto the pitch.
As a result, there is a general fascination towards the Norway international from major sports brands as they look to secure his signature as he is viewed as a major asset to the industry.
Haaland’s last boot deal was with Nike but it has expired. Throughout this season, he has been seen wearing a range of different brands.
Although he wore Nike when he scored his wonderful goal against his former side Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, the striker has also been spotted wearing Adidas and Puma boots on multiple occasions.
Up next for Haaland and City is a much anticipated Manchester derby as they welcome rivals United to the Etihad stadium on Sunday afternoon.
