Harry Kane's Response When Asked If He'd Let Heung-Min Son Take A Penalty To Clinch Golden Boot

Harry Kane's Response When Asked If He'd Let Heung-Min Son Take A Penalty To Clinch Golden Boot

Heung-Min Son is just one goal off Mo Salah in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.

Harry Kane refused to say whether he would allow Heung Min-Son to take a penalty on the final day of the season if it meant it clinched the Golden Boot award.

Kane struck a double while Son was on target in a huge 3-0 win over Arsenal in the North London derby on Thursday night.

The South Korean's goal in the second half was his 21st of the season, putting him just one behind top scorer Mo Salah going into the final two games of the campaign.

Kane has won the Premier League Golden Boot on two occasions, most recently as last term when he also topped the assist charts.

But teammate Son is well in contention to win this year's prize, with matches against Burnley and Norwich City.

After the Arsenal win, Spurs legend Teddy Sheringham asked the England skipper a hypothetical question about whether he'd let Son assume penalty duties on the final day if Spurs were winning comfortably.

Kane is Spurs' primary taker and converted against Arsenal from the spot last night to open the scoring.

"We’ll have to wait to see what happens," Kane said on Stadium Astro.

"Sonny has been fantastic for us, another goal tonight, we’ve got another important game on Sunday that I’m sure he’ll be ready for.

"Hopefully we can win him the Golden Boot, that’ll be nice but of course, he knows and we know that the three points are the most important thing."

In February, Kane and Son broke a Premier League record when they combined for a goal for the 37th time - moving one ahead of Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.

Asked about their telepathic relationship, Kane explained: "We’ve built up a good understanding, I think over the last two or three seasons especially.

"When I drop in deep he knows to run in behind and I’ll look for him. We just connect really well, his finishing is fantastic, both right and left foot, one-on-one he’s brilliant. For me, he’s a joy to play with."

After the triumph last night, Spurs are one point behind Arsenal in a close race for the final top four spot.
