Harry Maguire Break His Silence After Being Booed By England Fans Against Ivory Coast

Harry Maguire Break His Silence After Being Booed By England Fans Against Ivory Coast

Harry Maguire posted online after playing the full 90 minutes for England.

Harry Maguire has broken his silence after being booed by fans during England's friendly match against Ivory Coast.

The Manchester United man was subjected to boos when his name was read out and in the early stages of the game at Wembley Stadium.

He played the full 90 minutes as his side ran out 3-0 winners, with Gareth Southgate hitting out at England fans who targetted the 29-year-old defender.

Maguire's international teammates Jordan Henderson and Declan Rice also slammed supporters who booed him, posting supportive messages on social media.

The player himself has now shared a message online and appeared to ignore the criticism.

"Enjoyable week playing for my country," he tweeted, accompanied with a picture of himself in action.

England captain Harry Kane has since backed Maguire as he followed in the footsteps of Henderson and Rice to show his support.

"We’ve worked hard to rebuild our connection with @England fans in the last few years so to hear @HarryMaguire93 booed at Wembley before kick off was just not right," he tweeted.

"The fact that he’s been brilliant on the pitch and given us all so many great memories makes it even harder to understand.

"He doesn’t deserve that reception. He’s got full support in the changing room and should have the same from every England fan."

Maguire heads back to Man United having represented England during the international break.

The Red Devils resume their Premier League campaign at home to Leicester City on Saturday.
