The Dutchman has failed to break into Ralf Rangnick's plans since he was appointed last November.

Patrick Vieira wants the player ahead of the second half of the season, with the player's girlfriend helping pave the potential transfer.

His partner, Estelle, boasts a football legend as a father in the shape of Dennis Bergkamp, who has contacted Vieira to persuade him to sign the out-of-favour Man United man, according to reports via The Daily Mail.

Bergkamp is said to have helped convince his former Arsenal teammate to bring Van de Beek to London this month.

The ex-Ajax star is expecting his first child with the Arsenal icon's daughter later this year.

Vieira, meanwhile, is believed to be content with his squad but feels the addition of the 24-year-old can improve his team as they aim to improve their Premier League standing.

Van de Beek has played just 14 games in all competitions this season, with Rangnick praising his mentality and claiming he needs to 'just work hard' to get into his starting XI.

He explained: "Just work hard. So far, as I have got to know him, he has got a top mentality.

"He works hard in every training session. He is a team player through and through. There will be games where he will get his chance to play, I am sure.

"I also had a long conversation with him last week about that and again, of course it is difficult for him right now because he also wants to play for the Dutch national team, he wants to qualify for himself and play in the World Cup in Qatar.

"In order to do that he needs to get game time here. But I still believe we should keep him, and he should stay here, definitely until the end of this season and try to get as much game time as he possibly can."
