A Furious Jack Grealish 'Waited' For Southampton Player In The Tunnel At Full-Time

A Furious Jack Grealish 'Waited' For Southampton Player In The Tunnel At Full-Time

Grealish wasn't happy and needed to have his say.

Jack Grealish was furious with Oriol Romeu after Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Southampton and waited for his opponent in the St Mary's tunnel.

City dropped points for the first time since November and it was a frustrating evening for club-record signing Grealish.

The 26-year-old was tackled by Romeu in the second half and he went down holding his ankle, before getting up and pushing the midfielder away.

Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed at full-time that Grealish had words with Romeu after the full-time whistle.

“They had a discussion with Ori, because Grealish was waiting for him in the tunnel because of a few things that happened outside on the pitch that was not right," he told Sky Sports.

“But it’s not here for the cameras, they spoke about it, everything’s good.”

Grealish started up front in a false nine position but struggled to have much of an impact on the game.

It was Southampton who took the lead through Kyle Walker-Peters' incredible effort with the outside of his left boot.

Armando Broja thought he'd doubled the home side's advantage with a lovely finish, but he was ruled offside.

Just past the hour mark, City got their equaliser through a thumping header from Aymeric Laporte.

The Spain defender was then victim to a high boot from Stuart Armstrong, who managed to evade a red card after a VAR check.

VAR were involved once again after Kevin De Bruyne claimed he was hauled down inside the box by Romeu.

The decision went against City and they had to settle for a point.

Pep Guardiola was full of praise for his side however and said it was their best performance against Southampton, who have caused them trouble in the past, in a number of years.

The City boss explained to Match of the Day: "They defend well and are incredible on the counter-attack but I thought we passed really well. Armando Broja and Che Adams are so strong and it is not easy to contain them, but we did it.

"The result is the result, but the performance is much better than at Arsenal, for example, where we won. The last games we played against Southampton over the last two or three seasons, this was our best performance. I can see they are happy with the points and congratulations to them, they played a great game."
