Senior Man Utd player left out of squad for Spain trip, his future at the club is now in doubt

Senior Man Utd player left out of squad for Spain trip, his future at the club is now in doubt

Manchester United star Jadon Sancho has been left out of the club’s Spain camp.

Manchester United star Jadon Sancho has been left out of the club’s Spain camp, and will instead undergo an individual regime to get him back to his best.

Man Utd spent over a year trying to sign Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. At the time the winger was one of the most sought-after players in world football.

It’s easy to forget that in Germany, Sancho netted 50 times and recorded 64 assists in 137 games. Indeed, a large proportion of those goal contributions came while the winger was just a teenager.

When Man Utd ultimately got the deal done two summers ago in a £73million deal, the then-Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær said it was a signing that epitomised “the type of player I want to bring to the club”.

However, the 22-year-old has since struggled to make an impact at Man Utd under three managers. While he showed a brief resurgence in form at the start of this season, registering three goals and one assist, his performances have since become less fruitful.

Sancho was once the most productive winger in Europe. He has now only registered eight goals across two seasons at Man Utd.

Sancho out of Spain tour

Sancho, who has not played for Man Utd since October 22, will miss the club’s trip to Spain.

The Man Utd star was not included in England’s World Cup squad and has since been training in the Netherlands with coaches recommended by Erik ten Hag.

In a statement, the club confirmed Sancho will continue with the individual training programme as he looks to relocate the form that saw him reach the top of the European game.

The Man Utd statement claimed: “Jadon Sancho is continuing his individual training programme as part of a process to get back to his highest level. The club is fully supporting him in this.”

The England winger’s long-term future at the club has been put into question amid Man Utd’s ongoing pursuit of Netherlands World Cup start Cody Gakpo, who also plays on the flank.

Ten Hag’s side will take on Cadiz and Real Betis on December 7 and December 10 respectively in preparation to resume their season again in a Carabao Cup game against Burnley on December 21.
