Erik ten Hag hints Jadon Sancho could return to Manchester United team

Erik ten Hag has hinted that Jadon Sancho could be back for Manchester United soon, after being out of action for three months.

Ten Hag has really set about improving United in his relatively short time in charge at Old Trafford, with the team now just four wins short of their entire Premier League campaign from last season, after just 20 games.

Whilst some people have questioned his decision to jettison Cristiano Ronaldo, let's be honest it was only Piers Morgan, most have been impressed with his disciplinary style.

Certainly his decision to drop Marcus Rashford worked out for the best, after the forward was late for a team meeting, with Rashford coming off the bench in that game to score.

Certainly the England star is the one man who has benefited most from the new manager, and is currently playing the best football of his career.

His brilliant slaloming run to score against Nottingham Forest in midweek was his 10th in 10 appearances for the club since returning from World Cup duty.

However, not everyone has improved under Ten Hag, with Sancho having been the one man who the former Ajax boss has not been a great arrival for, so far.

The former Borussia Dortmund man last played for United on October 22nd, and has only made the bench on two occasions since then.

Now though, it looks like he could return to the squad for Saturday's game with Reading in the FA Cup, as the manager hinted.

"He is training with the team and we will see," the Dutchman said in his pre-match press conference, "He's improving, he's making steps and we will make the decision after training.

"I said he's on the way back, he's making steps, he's back in team training and we have to see when he's ready to go back into game."

Whilst the rest of the squad were sent on training in Spain during the World Cup, and played two friendlies, ahead of club football's return, Sancho went elsewhere.

The 22-year-old went to work on his strength and conditioning in Netherlands, with coaches who his manager had suggested to him.

His return would give Ten Hag more options with what to do upfront for United, which are currently relatively limited for the manager.

Antony has played a majority of games on the right, but has been criticised a number of times by pundits, and Sancho could provide some much needed competition.
