Who is Jakub Kiwior? All you need to know about the Arsenal transfer target

Arsenal look set to sign the Poland international.

Arsenal are set to sign Poland international Jakub Kiwior, according to a fresh report. But who is Mikel Arteta’s latest recruit?

The Gunners are keen to bolster their Premier League title challenge with new additions in the winter window.

The club are on the verge of signing Brighton winger Leandro Trossard in a deal worth up to £27million, with the 28-year-old currently undergoing a medical.

However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that the table toppers have added another player to their ranks - 22-year-old Poland international Kiwior.

The Italian journalist tweeted: “Arsenal have completed the signing of Jakub Kiwior, here we go! Contracts are being signed with Spezia, fee in excess of €20m with add-ons.

"Understand Kiwior has agreed personal terms on a five-year deal — medical will be completed in the next 48 hours. It’s done."

Gooners are now scrambling to know who this prospective centre-back signing is.

Who is Jakub Kiwior?

Kiwior has been a star of Spezia's backline this season, a club languishing just above the relegation places in Serie A.

The centre-back joined the Italian club from Slovakian side MŠK Žilina in the summer of 2021 and has since been particularly praised for his ball-playing ability.

Indeed, on the signing Serie A expert, Matteo Bonetti tweeted: "Good scouting from Arsenal here. Kiwior has been very impressive for Spezia. Looks very composed for his age - should develop into a starter long term

"Kiwior’s ability on the ball is likely what got the interest of Arsenal. Nice passing range and confident building out from the back."

Indeed, Arsenal are beating some of Europe's biggest club's to land the flourishing defender.

Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Juventus were looking sign Kiwior as an Alex Sandro replacement this window, while Borussia Dortmund allegedly had a €22million (£19million) total bid for the centre back rejected (TMW).

Kiwior was in the youth ranks at Anderlecht, where he played alongside current Arsenal midfielder, Albert Sambi Lokonga.

He eventually moved to Žilina for two seasons before making his way to Italy for just £1.9million.

The left-footed defender also made his first foray into international football last summer, starting for Poland against the Netherlands in a 2-2 Nations League draw in June. He has since picked up a further eight caps.

Indeed, Kiwior was part of Poland's World Cup campaign, making four appearances in Qatar as the Eagles were eliminated by eventual finalists France in the tournament's round of 16.
