Jamal Musiala once again made a mockery of his young age to prove vital in Germany's huge win vs Spain on Sunday night.
Germany needed some inspiration and at least a point against Spain, having been shocked by a 2-1 loss to Japan in their opening match.
A loss in their second game wouldn't have officially put them out at the group stages for the second World Cup in-a-row but it would have left them hanging by a thread.

Having gone 1-0 down to Alvaro Morata's second goal of the tournament, they were saved by a late equaliser from an unlikely source, substitute Niclas Fullkrug.
However, it was 19-year-old Musiala who impressed most throughout the match for Hansi Flick's side, especially once the subs were on.

Officially Musiala got an assist for Fullkrug, although it was more that the 29-year-old stole it off the teenager before rifling his shot home.
However, the turn on the edge of the box from the Bayern Munich star that took the ball away from Rodri and Alejandro Balde deserves plenty of credit.
It wasn't necessarily a performance of great flash points from Musiala and it was more his all round game that grabbed the attention.

Musiala was easily Germany's greatest attacking threat throughout the match, whether it was picking up the ball wide and running at defenders or finding space more centrally.
He outshone his fellow starting forwards Thomas Muller and Serge Gnabry and really came into his own once they'd departed for Fullkrug and Leroy Sane.

Speaking on BBC after the match, former PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino said, "For me he is one of the best young players in the world with Gavi and Pedri. He's a massive talent."

The two Barcelona midfielders had received a huge amount of praise following their team's 7-0 demolition of Costa Rica and the trio, along with Jude Bellingham, are certainly some of the best youngsters around right now.
Jurgen Klinsmann echoed Pochettino's sentiments, adding, "He was the outstanding player for Germany at such a young age. Musiala is a fantastic young player that grows at Bayern. He will only get better. He will grow even more."

Comparing the teenager to his more experienced teammates, another said, "Musiala has been a one man show in attack tonight. Müller, Gnabry and Gundogan have all stunk up the joint."
And another compared him to some all time greats, surmising, "Jamal Musiala is the successor to Andres Iniesta & Michael Laudrup. Pure Talent."

Overall verdict:
As an Englishman it's hard not to watch Musiala and wonder what might have been, after he played for the Three Lions from under 15s to under 21s, before deciding to switch to the nation of his birth.
Of course there's a good chance he'd be sitting on the bench with Phil Foden whilst the other attackers stink up the joint but you know.
Chelsea fans must also ponder the same, with the Bayern forward having been in their academy before deciding to move back to Germany aged 16.
Already at his young age he's showing how important he is to this Germany team and if they're to do anything in this tournament he will be integral to it.
The fact he's only 19 means he'll only get better and we could easily have another four tournaments of watching his magic.
