Japan left their dressing room spotless while leaving a message in Arabic after their incredible World Cup win over Germany.

Second-half goals from Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano secured a famous win for Japan as they came from behind to beat Germany 2-1 on Wednesday.

Japan begin their Qatar venture with a big win and have given themselves a great chance to book a spot in the next round of the tournament.

Their fans inside the Khalifa International Stadium cleaned up after themselves following their team's triumphant and there were jubilant scenes in Tokyo.

Despite the enormous victory, the Japan team didn't get carried away with the result as they cleaned their dressing room and left a heart-warming message.

They left a message that read 'thank you' in Arabic and presented several Origami's on the table.

Japan manager Hajime Moriyasu hailed his side's performance and described the win as a 'historic moment'.

Speaking after the game, he said: "I believe it’s a historic moment, a historic victory, to say the least. If I’m thinking of the development of Japanese football, we have been building up.

"It’s a big surprise and we are now reaching the global standard. We saw Saudi Arabia with a surprise win [beating Argentina on Tuesday], so we are showing our capability of Asian football."

He added: "From the start we decided to be aggressive; however Germany’s aggression was higher. This was no surprise for us. They have a wonderful goalkeeper, Mr Neuer. However our squad were very intelligent, they were smart and played well persistently. They fought really hard."

Japan resume their World Cup campaign on Sunday when they take on Costa Rica, before facing Spain next Thursday.
