Jesse Lingard Could Head Back To West Ham As Man Utd Departure Is Confirmed

Jesse Lingard could be set for a return to West Ham United.

West Ham, who concluded the season with a 3-1 loss to in-form Brighton, have had a mostly positive campaign, with the Hammers finishing 7th in the league and making history by reaching the Europa League semi-final, where they were stumped by eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt.

Evidently, the West Ham board see the attacking third of the pitch as the place to invest, with an initial enquiry over the signing of Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard being made.

The United man previously found great form with the Irons, where he scored nine goals while on a six-month loan in the 2020/21 season. His return to the United 1st team off the back of his successful loan spell with West Ham has been much less of a triumph, with Lingard only registering 2 goals throughout the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

The England international’s contract is set to expire this summer, with it seemingly making sense for all parties involved that he departs for West Ham on a free. Within the last 24 hours talks have been progressing, with Nicolò Schira reporting that a 3 year contract is set to be offered.

Jesse Lingard could yet again be the key for West Ham and their quest for Europa League football, which they previously attained with the aid of Lingard in the 2020/21 season.

If we see Lingard hit the form previously achieved on his first spell at West Ham, could we be looking at a late addition to Southgate’s World Cup squad? It looks possible.
