In a surprising turn of events, it has emerged that Jesse Marsch is being considered for the vacant Southampton post, just days after being sacked by Leeds.
The American manager lost his job at Elland Road on Monday after less than a year in charge.
Marsch, who succeeded Marcelo Bielsa in February, helped Leeds avoid relegation last season after picking up 15 points from 12 league games.

But after a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last week – their seventh Premier League game without a win – the Whites decided to relieve Marsch of his duties.
It was a disappointing end to his time at Elland Road, but he could make a shock return to England's top flight if struggling Southampton make a move.
According to a report from The Athletic, Marsch is being considered for the vacancy at St Mary's after they sacked Nathan Jones, just four months into his tenure.

The 49-year-old former RB Leipzig coach is 'admired' by Southampton, who see his pressing style and system as appealing.
Ralph Hasenhuttl, who was sacked by the Premier League club in November after almost four years in charge, also had a similar experience working in the Red Bull system.
Shortly after his departure from Leeds, Marsch was tipped to be the next manager of the US men's national team.

In fact, according to the Express, the American coach was already under consideration to replace Gregg Berhalter after his departure following last winter's World Cup.
The US Soccer Federation has reportedly delayed making any decision in the hope that the former Leeds man might become available in the near future.
They didn't expect that their prime candidate would leave his Premier League job in order to take over as the new USMNT head coach.
But with that hurdle now not needing to be jumped, he is expected to be offered the job, with Yahoo Sports claiming he would be very interested.
Former USMNT star Eric Wynalda thinks the 49-year-old would be the perfect person to take over that national team.

"Jesse is a good fit for several reasons," he said. "He's very familiar with the federation, has a very intelligent approach to scouting and understands the mentality.
"[He] has coached numerous American players and will be a breath of fresh air to the media."
