Jose Mourinho Closing In On Deal For Flop He Signed For Manchester United

Jose Mourinho is closing in on a loan deal that could come with an obligation to buy for €15 million.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly closing in on a deal to reunite with Diogo Dalot at Roma.

According to Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia, negotiations between Roma and Manchester United have progressed in recent times over an initial loan deal in January.

The loan fee would be €1.5 million and the deal could contain an obligation to buy should Dalot make a set amount of appearances for Roma.

That fee would be €15 million, bringing the total cost to €16.5 million.

Dalot spent last season loan at AC Milan, making 33 appearances and scoring twice. The Rossoneri were said to be keen on keeping him but the 22-year-old returned to United, where he's played six times so far this term.

Mourinho signed Dalot for United in a £19 million from Porto in the 2018 summer transfer window, just months before he was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford.

Roma won four of their first five league games his term but have slipped to sixth in Serie A after 12 games having won just two out of their last seven fixtures.

In all competitions, the Giallorossi have also conceded 15 goals in their last seven outings.

With a top four finish and Champions League qualification the target, Sky Italia say Mourinho has told those high up at Roma that reinforcements are needed in the transfer window.

And Dalot, who has been capped four times for Portugal, is a top target.

He is capable of playing on both the right and left side of the backline and already has experience of playing in Italy.
