Jose Mourinho 'interested' in PSG move following rejection of Chelsea bid

Jose Mourinho 'interested' in PSG move following rejection of Chelsea bid

The Roma manager has reportedly expressed his interest in taking over from Christophe Galtier at PSG

Jose Mourinho has been linked to the Paris Saint-Germain head coach job as Christophe Galtier is reportedly expected to step down this summer.

Recently, the Roma manager has been rumoured to be re-joining a flailing Chelsea but further reports state that Mourinho has rejected an approach from the Blues.

According to RMC Sport, Mourinho dismissed Chelsea’s advances after they sacked Graham Potter seven months into his contract.

The aforementioned publication also states that the 60-year-old coach could instead accept managerial positions at either PSG or Real Madrid.

Furthermore, they report that Luis Campos, Director of football at PSG, has already spoken with Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and that the highly-decorated manager is interested in moving to Ligue 1.

Mourinho is only in his second term at Roma but there is some uncertainty regarding his future at the Italian club as his contract is set to expire next year.

Right now, Roma sits seventh in Serie A and has failed to win a domestic match since April 16, when they beat Andrea Sottil’s Udinese side 3-0.

In all competitions, Mourinho's last win with Roma was on April 20, where his men beat Feyenoord 4-2 on aggregate in the Europa League quarter-finals.

The link to PSG comes after RMC Sport reported that the team are ‘looking for a new coach to take over from Galtier’.

Many have called for Galtier to leave his post at PSG after just one season in charge.

This comes after he allegedly made racist comments towards his squad and of course, the recent suspension of Lionel Messi.

The 35-year-old wasn’t involved with PSG’s game against Troyes this weekend as he was handed a suspension after failing to turn up for training earlier this month.

Instead, Messi took an authorised trip to Saudi Arabia but didn’t let PSG staff know that he was there to fulfil a contract with the country's tourist board

However, according to Galtier, the suspension of Messi ‘wasn’t his decision’ to make/

The 56-year-old told reporters during a press conference: “I was informed at the beginning of the week by management about the decision to suspend Leo.

"Once they had let me know, I took the responsibility to not comment as a paid member of staff of the club,” he said.

“It wasn’t my decision to make. I was informed of the decision and I defer to it,” Galtier added.

With Mourinho’s future at Roma in doubt, and the potential to fill Galtier’s boots being on the cards, journalists recently asked him where his head was at.

Mourinho stated: “I don’t talk to friends, comrades, journalists.

“If a few months ago our CEO [Pietro] Berardi said he was sure I would stay, that is his interpretation. If this time Mr Zazzaroni [journalist] said what he said is an interpretation of him, I’m not talking to anyone.”

“The situation is clear, from a contractual point of view,” he added. “I still have one year on my contract. Football is football, sometimes contracts aren’t the most important thing.

“All good, all calm, the next one is always the most important game,” he concluded.
