Jose Mourinho publicly digs out ANOTHER Roma player for showing 'psychological frailty' over penalty

Jose Mourinho publicly digs out ANOTHER Roma player for showing 'psychological frailty' over penalty

Roma drew 1-1 with Torino over the weekend.

Jose Mourinho has claimed one of his Roma players lacked the mental fortitude to take a penalty in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Torino.

Mourinho made headlines last week by publicly digging out one of his defenders, believed to be Rick Karsdorp, after conceding a late equaliser against Sassuolo.

The 59-year-old was at it again following a dramatic finale at the Stadio Olimpico. Andrea Belotti had the chance to equalise from the penalty spot in the 92nd minute against his former side but saw his penalty hit the post.

Nemanja Matic spared his blushes moments later with a longe range effort after Paulo Dybala rattled the bar.

Post-match, Mourinho didn't criticise Belotti for messing up his spot kick. He instead took aim at Roma's usual penalty taker.

He vented to DAZN per Football-Italia: "Belotti was not the designated penalty taker. I won't tell you who was.

"This is the type of situation that can happen. The problem is when people don't give what they can, I don’t like psychological frailty. Belotti showed courage to take it and make that mistake. You cannot say he lacked courage."

Mourinho was sent off during the game for arguing with referee Antonio Rapuano, something he agreed with after things had simmered down.

He continued: "It was the right decision, my words to the referee deserved a red card.

"I spoke to him after the game and apologised, but I don't want to talk about his performance. I was humble enough to apologise, but I will leave his performance and the hypothetical influence on the match to you. I don't want to talk about what we said, that was private. My words deserved a red card, but I will not judge the referee's performance."

Roma are currently seventh in Serie A after failing to win their last three games before the World Cup break.

Dybala is one of Mourinho's stars who will be in Qatar after recovering from injury.

The Argentina international picked up and injury last month but returned to action from the bench over the weekend.
