Journalist Told 'Tottenham Would've Signed Unbelievable Player By Now', Fans Are Getting Worried

“The fact that it’s not is a surprise to me and many others who have contacts at clubs."

A Sky Sports reporter is shocked a deal taking Adama Traore to Tottenham Hotspur hasn't been completed yet.

Spurs have been linked with the Wolves winger throughout January and he was looking likely to be Antonio Conte's first signing at the club.

However, there's just four days left of the window and a fee hasn't been agreed.

"I’m going to be completely honest. I was told Friday lunch time that Traore would be sorted by now," Michael Bridge told The Last Word on Spurs podcast.

"The fact that it’s not is a surprise to me and many others who have contacts at clubs.

"One thing I had been told is that there has been a lot of talk about Traore being made into a right wing-back. That, for me, is not forever. It’s just until the end of the season.”

"I’ve been told that’s not permanent [Traore playing right wing-back]."

It's believed Conte wants to convert Traore to a wing-back, with Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal failing to convince.

The 26-year-old has played wing-back for Wolves before and has the speed to track back.

While Traore is exciting going forward, he struggles with an end product and has just one goal in the Premier League this campaign.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Porto forward Luis Diaz in recent days and it's believed he's a more likely arrival.

Diaz has scored 16 goals in 28 appearances this season and attracted the interest of Liverpool.

The Colombia international has a release clause of £67 million but it's unlikely Spurs pay that.

Conte is desperate for signings as Spurs look to get back into the Champions League.

They lost their last game 2-0 to Chelsea and Conte revealed earlier this month he's had positive talks with owner Daniel Levy and sporting director Fabio Paratici.

"When you have the possibility to speak to the owner [Levy] and the sporting director… with Paratici I have the possibility to speak every day… but to speak with our owner, it was important,” the Italian explained per the Guardian.

"Also because I like to be honest and always tell the truth. You know that I don’t like to tell a good lie to keep a good relationship or show myself to be very soft or too polite. It was good to tell the truth and it was a good meeting."
