Jude Bellingham's highlights for England vs Iran are the best you'll see from a 19-year-old

Jude Bellingham's highlights for England vs Iran are the best you'll see from a 19-year-old

The Borussia Dortmund starlet has arrived on the world stage.

Highlights of Jude Bellingham's performance in England's 6-2 victory over Iran have emerged - the boy is a serious talent.

Gareth Southgate's side stormed to victory in their World Cup Group B opener at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

Bellingham started in midfield alongside Declan Rice and Mason Mount after an impressive season so far for Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old took his chance with both hands. Bellingham scored his first international goal to give England the lead just past the half-hour mark.

Next to Rice, he managed to control the tempo expertly. Bellingham knew when to get forward and join the attack, while fulfilling his defensive duties too.

He wasn't afraid to get stuck into a challenge. One moment in the first half saw him clatter Ehsan Hajsafi before getting into it with Milad Mohammadi.

Bellingham broke into the Three Lions setup in 2020 but was mainly a substitute at last summer's European Championship.

Southgate preferred the partnership of Rice alongside Kalvin Phillips. Injury to Manchester City midfielder Phillips means he's been limited to less than an hour of action this term.

Bellingham is likely to be a regular for England going forward, with fans incredibly excited for his future.

One person commented: "Jude Bellingham was 14 during the last World Cup now he's running the show."

Another said: "Jude Bellingham's price is going up more and more with every passing minute."

A third tweeted: "He's becoming a complete midfielder already."

Or someone put: "Bellingham is the biggest sure thing in the sport. Guaranteed elite player."

A brace from Bukayo Saka, plus goals from Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish were enough to seal an emphatic win.

Iran did grab two goals of their own through Porto forward Mehdi Taremi, which concerned Southgate at full-time.

He said: "I’m a bit fed up with the end of it really. To win by that margin, to play as we did for the majority of the game, I’ve got to be really happy.

"But we shouldn’t be conceding two goals at that stage and we’ll have to be right on our game against the (United) States. It’s a great start but we’re going to have to be better.

"It’s a consequence of the scoreline a bit, we had 24 minutes of added time which is a long time to focus but we just lost concentration and when we play at a slower tempo we’re not anywhere near as effective."

England return to action on Friday against the USMNT, who face Wales in Monday's other Group B clash.
