Jude Bellingham 'hands out farewell gifts' at Borussia Dortmund after last day of season

The latest on Jude Bellingham.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham handed out farewell gifts to members of the German club after the final game of the Bundesliga season, it has been reported.

The English midfielder, along with the rest of his team-mates, suffered heartbreak on Saturday as they lost the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich on goal difference.

Dortmund entered the day with a two-point advantage over Thomas Tuchel's side, and knew that a win over Mainz would guarantee their first league title in 11 years.

Bayern were looking to continue their streak of winning every title since then - and quickly hit the front inside just nine minutes against Koln through Kingsley Coman's goal.

At Signal Iduna Park, meanwhile, Dortmund were 2-0 down after 24 minutes.

But Raphael Guerreiro's goal to make it 2-1, coupled with Dejan Ljubicic's equaliser for Koln against Bayern, meant Edin Terzic's side still held on to the title with 10 minutes to play.

However, Jamal Musiala scored what proved to be the winner for Bayern on 89 minutes to break Dortmund hearts, and Niklas Sule's late equaliser for the Yellow Submarine was not enough.

Bellingham was visibly emotional after the game - and it was a match which could have been his last in a Dortmund shirt.

According to German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten (via Daily Mail), Bellingham handed out farewell gifts to Dortmund personnel and held 'final talks' with Terzic, the club's managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke and sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

It is claimed that the midfielder and his mother Denise gave out 'a series of gifts' after a team meeting, including a pair of signed boots which he gave to a security guard, with the message 'Thank you!' written.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer. The Daily Mirror report that Los Blancos hope to complete a deal for Bellingham in the upcoming week.

It is claimed that the midfielder could cost Real a guaranteed fee of £87 million plus £21 million in add-ons, and that he will sign a six-year contract at the Bernabeu.

If his move to Real is finalised, it would bring to an end a transfer saga that has seen him linked with a number of Europe's elite clubs.

Liverpool ended their pursuit of Bellingham last month, with The Times reporting that the Reds decided not to commit such a large percentage of their summer transfer budget to one player.
