Jurgen Klopp tells reporters that Wolves' third goal in 3-0 win against Liverpool 'doesn't count'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he 'doesn't count' the third goal scored by Ruben Neves in Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Wolves – a statement that has got people talking on social media.
For the third time in 2023, a lacklustre Liverpool were beaten in emphatic fashion as goals from Joel Matip [OG], Craig Dawson and Ruben Neves helped Julen Lopetegui's side climb out of the relegation zone.
Before the game Wolves had only scored 12 goals all season – the least of any Premier League club – but an admirable team performance against Liverpool could be a big momentum-changer.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are going through arguably the worst spell of form in Jurgen Klopp's reign – and the German wasn't in the best of moods after the full-time whistle.
In fact, in his post-match press conference at Molineux, a clearly frustrated Klopp bizarrely claimed Wolves' third goal should not have counted.
"The third goal I don't count because it was the first time they passed the halfway line in the second half," the Liverpool manager said.
"The other two goals, going into a game with all the things we said during the week and before the game then this start is horrible."
Shortly after those comments were made, Wolves' official Twitter account mocked Klopp's comments by sharing an updated full-time graphic with a 2-0 scoreline and a line through Neves' goal.

Fans were quick to react to the graphic. One said: "Give the social media manager a raise," while another commented: "Just listened to Klopp’s interview saying 'the third goal I don’t count' unfortunately for him that’s not how football works."
In the same press conference, Klopp refused to answer questions from The Athletic journalist James Pearce, who pressed the Liverpool manager on why his team have been starting so slowly in games this season.
"It's really difficult to talk to you, If I'm being 100 per cent honest," Klopp said.
"I prefer not to do that. You know why... for all the things you wrote. If somebody else wants to ask that question, then I'll answer it."

Klopp also said conceding early goals is "not unfamiliar to us" but the way they conceded them was unacceptable.
"When you see the whole game, throughout the game in moments we played an outstanding game without scoring and a good away game without scoring," he added.
"The third goal I don't count because it was the first time they passed the halfway line in the second half. The other two goals, going into a game with all the things we said during the week and before the game then this is the start is horrible."
