Football Fans Are Debating If They Prefer Prime Kevin De Bruyne Or Prime Zinedine Zidane

It has been the talk of social media.

A tweet asking if football fans would rather have a prime Kevin De Bruyne or prime Zinedine Zidane in their midfield is causing a lot of debate online.

Manchester City star De Bruyne is regarded as one of the best players in the world right now and has helped City to four of the last five Premier League titles.

The Belgium international is graceful on the ball and has a pass in his locker which he can whip out at any time.

De Bruyne is armed with a wicked shot too and is responsible for a number of screamers down the years.

On the other hand, Zidane marvelled during his time at Juventus, even winning the World Cup with France and Ballon d'Or in 1998.

'Zizou' had a first touch gifted to him by the gods and drifted through every game with ease.

He became the most expensive player in the world after moving to Real Madrid in 2001 and there he won the Champions League, with his volley against Bayer Leverkusen being the winning goal in the final.

Zidane spent five years at Real and helped usher in the 'Galactico' era alongside other legends like Ronaldo Nazario, David Beckham and Roberto Carlos.

He retired in 2006 and his last act on a football pitch was headbutting Italy defender Marco Materazzi in that year's World Cup final.

There is no doubting De Bruyne and Zidane are world class talents. But who is better?

Supporters have had their say and opinion is firmly split. Those choosing De Bruyne claim 'nostalgia' blinds people to the fact Zidane was not consistent at club level.

One person said: "Zidane was only better at international level with some important moments. He was never consistent."

While another put: "One does it during the hardest ever era of football, in the hardest ever league in history of the game winning more individual awards, no disrespect to Zidane but KDB is a better footballer."

However, Zidane fans passionately argue his standing in the game is greater than De Bruyne's will ever be.

Someone argued: "Zidane is easy a top ten player in the history of the game, KDB is not even in the conversation."

Then a second tweeted: "Kevin De Bruyne would be a bench player in the 2000s Real team. That says it all."
