Khabib Nurmagomedov Reveals The Reason Cristiano Ronaldo Left Juventus For Manchester United

Khabib Nurmagomedov Reveals The Reason Cristiano Ronaldo Left Juventus For Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo wanted out at Juventus and sealed a fairytale return to Manchester United this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus for Manchester United because he was "bored".

That's according to UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov, who claims to have the lowdown on why Ronaldo ended his stint in Italy.

Ronaldo had told the Bianconeri of his desire to leave the club in recent weeks and was hopeful of a bid coming in before the transfer window concluded.

Things accelerated extremely quickly and after being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, he returned to United at the age of 36 - 12 years on from his departure to Real Madrid.

Ronaldo hit 101 goals in 134 games for Juventus, winning two Serie A titles.

But as per former lightweight champion Khabib, who is close friends with Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner became "bored" of Italian football.

"I don’t want to disclose any personal messages… Ronaldo said he was bored in Italy and wanted to go back to England," he told Sport24.

“I’m also not a fan of Italian football, [but] the English Premier League I won't switch over. Any team there can put on a show."

Ronaldo was briefly touted as a potential signing for Paris Saint-Germain, where his long-time rival Lionel Messi is plying his trade after joining on a free transfer from Barcelona.

The two titans of football will continue to be compared until they hang up their boots and Khabib, a staunch Real Madrid supporter, is in no doubt that Ronaldo is superior.

"Cristiano has been at the top for 17 years," he added.

"In 2004 he was in the final at the European Championship, and now it’s 2021 and he’s still scoring.

“There’s never been a phenomenon like that in football... I think Messi’s been at his peak for about 12 years, and Cristiano 17.

"In my opinion, Ronaldo is cooler.... Cristiano is much cooler, I think.

“Messi is one of the best in history. But if in the game they’re equal, then in charisma Cristiano is more powerful.”

Last week, Khabib, who is trying to forge his own football career, said Ronaldo's move back to Old Trafford didn't surprise hm because he had already told him he was United-bound.

"A month ago, he told me that he was moving to Manchester United," Nurmagomedov told reporters in Moscow via RT News.

"I expected this deal to take place. I think that Manchester United is more suitable for him than Juventus. For me, the transition was not a surprise."

Ronaldo was back at United's Carrington training complex on Tuesday to meet manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and train with some of his new teammates.

He could make his second United debut against Newcastle in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday and there's talk of the club preparing a special welcome for him prior to the game.
