Kieran Trippier Scores First Newcastle Goal With Brilliant 25-Yard Free-Kick In 3-1 Win Vs Everton

Kieran Trippier Scores First Newcastle Goal With Brilliant 25-Yard Free-Kick In 3-1 Win Vs Everton

Dead-ball specialist Kieran Trippier found his target with incredible precision. A huge win for Newcastle over Everton at St James' Park!

Kieran Trippier opened his goalscoring account for Newcastle in stunning fashion with a superb free-kick in his side’s crucial 3-1 win over Everton.

Eddie Howe’s men welcomed the Toffees to St James’ Park on Tuesday as they fought hard to secure three points amid their Premier League relegation battle.

A deflection off of Jamaal Lascelles fired Everton into the lead in the first half before a Mason Holgate error pulled Newcastle level not long after the opener.

Ryan Fraser scored early in the second half to put the Magpies 2-1 up, with Trippier ensuring Newcastle secured all three points with a fine free-kick strike.

The 31-year-old right-back’s 25-yard free-kick dipped before landing in the bottom corner of Jordan Pickford’s net.

Trippier was the first major signing for Newcastle’s Saudi Arabia-led owners, who purchased the club for £300m from Mike Ashley last October.

Newcastle paid £12m plus add-ons to Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window for the England international.

Newcastle continued their spending spree with the additions of Chris Wood from Burnley, Dan Burn from Brighton and Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon.

Newcastle’s important 3-1 win over Everton moved them out of the relegation zone, with Norwich City dropping to 18th place.

Howe’s men now sit two points clear of the Canaries and are one point behind 16th-place Everton.

Frank Lampard succeeded Rafa Benitez as Everton boss last month, with the former Chelsea manager facing an uphill task at the Toffees.

The Chelsea legend led his first Everton match on Saturday and saw his side thump Brentford 4-1 in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Goodison Park.

However, defeat to Newcastle will pile pressure on Lampard as Everton creep closer to the relegation zone.

Newcastle will return to action on Sunday when they host Aston Villa at St James’ Park, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm UK time.
