Google searches for AS Roma soared by 2.3 million after Kim Kardashian wore their 1997/98 shirt

Google searches for 'AS Roma' jumped by 2,894 per cent above the average volume in the last seven days alone.

The Kardashian effect, eh?

Social media megastar and TV personality Kim Kardashian broke into footballing news this week after she was spotted donning a retro AS Roma shirt while casually taking a stroll down the street in Los Angeles.

The beautiful red and orange strip is from Roma's 1997/1998 season and was worn by legends such as Cafu and Francesco Totti.

And for some strange reason, Kim has managed to get her hands on the super-rare kit.

Random? Yes.

But upon seeing the picture, football fans went absolutely nuts for it – so much so that Google searches for the club skyrocketed.

According to analysis conducted by CasinoBonusCA.com, Google searches for 'AS Roma' jumped by 2,894 per cent above the average volume in the last seven days alone.

That is an increase of around 2.3 million searches over two days.

Even when the club's official Twitter account shared the photograph, fans flocked to the comments section to have their say.

The caption read: "Mamma mia, Kim!"

While one person commented: "Kim is with us."

As another said: "She's Roma through and through."

Big-name celebrities, especially Kim K, wearing football shirts is nothing new.

The global megastar even sported a Paris Saint-Germain jersey once before.
