You may have missed Leroy Sane and Kyle Walker going at it during and after Germany's penalty

You may have missed Leroy Sane and Kyle Walker going at it during and after Germany's penalty

The duo played together at Manchester City.

Kyle Walker and Leroy Sane were jokingly getting in one another's heads during England's 3-3 draw with Germany.

The two sides signed off from Nations League Group C with an entertaining draw at Wembley on Monday evening.

Germany took the lead through an Ilkay Gundogan penalty after Harry Maguire hauled down Jamal Musiala in the area.

Prior to that spot kick, Walker and Sane were seen outside the box chatting and having a laugh with one another.

The duo played together at Manchester City for three years, winning two Premier League titles, before Sane departed for Bayern Munich in 2020.

All the fun stopped when Gundogan fired past Nick Pope to give Hansi Flick's side the lead. Sane stared at Walker as he ran off to celebrate with Gundogan and the rest of his teammates.

It was likely all in good spirits, but still an odd change of pace for an international game between two rival teams.

Kai Havertz doubled Germany's lead 15 minutes later and it looked like pressure on Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate would continue to build.

The Three Lions mounted a sensational comeback however thanks to three goals in 12 minutes.

Luke Shaw volleyed home a Reece James cross to get the ball rolling before Mason Mount's equaliser.

Harry Kane converted a penalty of his own to put England ahead after Jude Bellingham was fouled by Nico Schlotterbeck.

England were looking for their first win in six, but Havertz's second of the game three minutes before time means the wait goes on.

It's their worst winless run since 1993 but Southgate believes they are on the right track ahead of this winter's World Cup in Qatar.

"The players reacted in the right way when Germany scored," Southgate told The Guardian. "We showed character but also a lot of quality and I think the crowd also came with us and stayed with us. Even at 0-2, they didn’t get on their back and that was so important for us.

"We scored and the roof almost lifted off and we all remember what it feels like for a goal to go in.

"Then we had an absolute punch on the nose at the end. I am sure everyone here was not enamoured by rewriting three match reports but I was not chuffed myself."
