Kylian Mbappe Has Been ‘Kidnapped For Money’ After Sensational Paris Saint Germain U-Turn

Kylian Mbappe Has Been ‘Kidnapped For Money’ After Sensational Paris Saint Germain U-Turn

Kylian Mbappe signed a deal with PSG that will keep him at the club until 2025

Kylian Mbappe has been ‘kidnapped for money’ after signing new Paris Saint Germain deal, according to Barcelona president, Joan Laporta

In a shock twist in the transfer saga, Mbappe announced last week that he has signed a new deal with the Parc des Princes club after a last ditch attempt from the French champions to persuade their star man to stay paid off.

The expectations pointed towards Mbappe leaving PSG, to join Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer, but things took a turn after PSG threw everything at Mbappe.

The 23-year-old was offered a massive signing on bonus, a reported weekly wage of £650,000, numerous bonuses and more power behind the scenes. An offer that Mbappe found impossible to turn down, he will now stay at the club until 2025.

When asked about the deal between Mbappe and PSG, Barcelona president Laporta accused the French side of distorting the market.

He told L’Esportiu de Catalunya: “This distorts the market, players end up being kidnapped for money.”

“These are the effects of a club having a state behind it. This goes against all the principles of the European Union. It is a reflection on the sustainability of football in Europe.”

Laporta was not the first to pile criticism on PSG, with La Liga president, Javier Tebas labelling the deal between Mbappe and PSG as ‘scandalous’ and filed a complaint to UEFA and French and EU authorities, claiming the Mbappe deal ‘attacks the economic stability of European football.’

Tebas also attacked the owners of PSG in his statement.

He said: "What PSG is going to do by re-signing Mbappe with large amounts of money after losing 700 million euros in the last seasons and having 600 million euros in salary tables, is an insult to football."

"Al-Khelaifi is as dangerous as the Super League."

French league chairman, Vincent Labrune has now responded.

He said in a letter in reply to Tebas: “We want to express in the strongest possible terms our disapproval, and also our incomprehension, of your latest attacks against Ligue 1 and one of our clubs.”

"The fact that you publicly and repeatedly take this position against Ligue 1 on this topic and denigrate our league and our clubs is both unacceptable and manifestly false."

Mbappe's focus for next season is to finally help PSG win the Champions League, a trophy that has been eluding the French side, they were knocked out of this season's competition by Real Madrid in the last 16 stage.
