La Liga Makes Complaint To UEFA Over Erling Haaland Signing

La Liga Makes Complaint To UEFA Over Erling Haaland Signing

Man City announced Haaland's move earlier this week and, like Kylian Mbappe's decision to stay with PSG, it hasn't gone down well in Spain.

Erling Haaland's decision to move to Manchester City hasn't gone down well with La Liga chief Javier Tebas, who has made an official complaint to UEFA.

Haaland's move being completed earlier this week really brings forward the scary prospect of a City team who scored 99 goals in the league last season adding one of the most ruthless and efficient strikers in the world to their team.

It's not like Pep Guardiola's side wasn't already full of superstars and some of the most talented players in the world, and now he's added one of the most desired players to his squad.

That addition has not pleased Tebas though, with the head of La Liga as annoyed as he was when PSG managed to extend Kylian Mbappe's contract.

The 59-year-old has confirmed his complaint to UEFA over the amount of money that City are spending, with the signing of Haaland.

"I'm not standing up for Madrid over the Mbappe issue, I'm standing up for European football," he told a press conference.

"Consenting to these operations outside the market when those clubs are... it's more dangerous than the Super League.

"PSG are now going to end up with losses of €200m, they already had a loss of €300m... and now they go and renew Mbappe with those amounts. They're going to have to cheat, I don't know if that's by paying outside of France or by getting a lot of sponsorships, which they already do.

"As for City, [Mino] Raiola made it very clear when it came to commission. They must have done something, because Haaland asked clubs for more than just the €60m that has been paid.

"This week, we will complain over PSG, last week we did it with City."

Tebas had to start by saying his position wasn't about defending Real Madrid due to the issues with Mbappe staying put in France.

It looked like the World Cup winner would be going to the Bernabeu before a late change in heart and Tebas was fuming with it, being accused of being corrupt by Gary Neville.

UEFA also weren't impressed with the complaints, telling La Liga they would not be told what to do over the transfer, or lack of transfer.
