Toni Kroos claims 'God' injured LaLiga referee as Real Madrid star launches explosive rant against official

Toni Kroos has slammed La Liga referee Isidro Díaz de Mera for his performance during Real Madrid's recent match against Sevilla.

Madrid emerged from the game victorious thanks to a late winner from Luca Modric in the 81st minute, the result puts Carlo Ancelotti's side six points clear at the top of La Liga.

Kroos recently announced he would be coming out of international retirement for Germany ahead of the Euros this summer.

The 34-year-old was shown Madrid's only yellow card of the match after reacting to what seemed like a pretty innocuous foul, during which a Sevilla player collided with him on the edge of the box.

Kroos reacted strongly to the decision by hitting his hands on the floor and shouting towards the referee leading to the official brandishing a yellow card.

Kroos vented his anger at the referee on his podcast after the match.

“I’m not someone who likes to deal with the referees during the game, and I never do that, but it was too much. What made me so angry about my action was that I was actually a meter away," Kroos explained.

"Basically I move away from the opponent. I see that he starts dribbling in his own area and that he just wants to bump into me. Then I even walked away so that he doesn’t have much contact with me, but the referee ignored it.

“I think that throughout the first half he whistled everything that was at the limit of being a foul. Even things that weren’t fouls at all," Kroos continued.

During the second half, the referee, Díaz de Mera, picked up an injury to his calf and had to be substituted for the fourth official after failing to run off the injury.

On his podcast, Kroos sensationally claimed that God was responsible for the referee's injury.

“God sees everything and probably injured [the referee’s] calf. There were 80,000 people there and everyone was at their wit’s end with his refereeing," The German claimed.

“The referee really did everything wrong, he even got injured at the moment when it was the worst time for us to stop the game because of the way we were playing.

"We really have to say that the fourth official was a much better referee than Díaz de Mera. He did a good job," Kroos concluded.
