Interim Leeds' manager Michael Skubala's rallying notes leaked during thrilling Man United draw

Interim Leeds' manager Michael Skubala's rallying notes leaked during thrilling Man United draw

Leeds secured a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Interim Leeds United boss Michael Skubala offered eagled-eyed viewers a glimpse into his tactics as his side took on Man United on Wednesday night.

Skubala has been tasked with leading the Yorkshire outfit whilst the club's hierarchy ponders over who will replace ex-boss, Jesse Marsch.

The American was sacked by Leeds earlier this week after enduring a torrid run of form that has seen the Whites without a Premier League win since November 5th.

Skubala - formerly head coach of Leeds Under-21's - picked up his first point in charge of the Premier League side, as they secured a 2-2 draw away at Manchester United.

The 40-year-old has been thrown in at the deep end whilst the hunt for a successor goes on, but eagle-eyed viewers were offered an insight into his tactics late into the first half.

With Leeds' leading 1-0 thanks to Wilfried Gnoto's first minute goal, television cameras caught a shot of Skubala's notes, with four key points listed.

Whilst we cannot decipher the first point in the list, it would appear that the other three read: "close midfield" "believe" and "be calm".

His game plan looked to be sending Leeds on their way to an unexpected three points when Raphael Varane's own goal doubled the Whites’ lead early in the second half.

However, it wasn't to be, as the red-hot Marcus Rashford pulled a goal back for the hosts before Jadon Sancho marked his return to the side with an equaliser just minutes later.

Leeds ensured that they wouldn't leave their cross-county rivals empty-handed though, as they defended astutely in the closing stages to hold on for a well-deserved point.

They will get a second bite at the cherry later this week, with Erik ten Hag's Red Devils making the trip to Elland Road for the reverse Premier League fixture on Sunday.

Whether Skubala will still be in charge of his troops remains to be seen, with Feyenoord boss Arne Slot and Rayo Vallecano gaffer Andoni Iraola among those linked with the vacant manager's position in West Yorkshire.
