Lionel Messi reportedly falls out with PSG boss as he eyes Barcelona return

Lionel Messi reportedly falls out with PSG boss as he eyes Barcelona return

Messi's future is still up in the air with his Paris Saint-Germain contract set to end in the summer and he's been linked with several moves

Lionel Messi's future at Paris Saint-Germain is all but done, following a reported falling out with manager Christophe Galtier this week.

When Messi rocked up to Paris in August 2021, the Argentina star was expected to run through the league pretty easily, and hopefully bring Champions League success to the French capital for the first time.

Last week, chances of the latter all but faded away, with the Ligue 1 leaders being knocked out of Europe by Bayern Munich, once again failing at the last 16, much to the annoyance of their fans.

With the seven time Ballon d'Or winner's contract due to expire come the end of the season, it may have even been his final game in the competition.

That's due to the fact that he has been heavily linked with a move to the MLS, with Inter Miami having been reported to try and sign him.

There is also a lot of interest from Saudi Arabia, as they attempt to add Lionel Messi to the league whilst continuing their push to host the 2030 World Cup, although they may have to change the laws of the country in order to get him.

In theory, he could sign a new deal at the Parc des Princes and remain at PSG, but that seems extremely unlikely, after he left training early on Tuesday.

Initially there were reports of a minor injury, however, RMC report that the 35-year-old left the session prematurely after a falling out with Galtier, after being unhappy at some of the drills in training.

The latest issue in Paris comes as Foot Mercato claims that the World Cup winner has a nostalgic desire to return back to Barcelona in the summer.

Player and club have been linked with being reunited for as long as he's been away from the Catalan giants, especially as they only lost him due to their finances.

The report says that the player has been in constant contact with former teammate turned Barca manager, Xavi, and his father has met with club president Joan Laporta.

Finances could once again come between the club and their all time top goalscorer, as they could struggle to afford to sign him, no matter how much they want to.

The club could also be facing corruption charges, after being charged by the public prosecutor's office in relation to payments made to a company owned by the former vice-president of the national referees' committee, Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.

They have been told that they could even be relegated as part of the punishment, should they be found guilty, if that happens then Messi may well change his mind.
