Lionel Messi's Bad Luck At Paris Saint-Germain Is Getting Worse And Fans Are Convinced He's 'Cursed'

Lionel Messi hit the woodwork twice in Paris Saint-Germain's 2-2 draw with Troyes on Sunday and fans are convinced he's been 'cursed' by the footballing gods.

Messi's first season in Ligue 1 has been underwhelming to say the least and he's only scored four league goals.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner and his teammates threw away a 2-0 lead at the Parc des Princes, but things could've been so different.

During the game, Messi saw a close range effort bounce back off the post while a long range effort crashed off the bar in injury time.

Even the commentators wondered how at least one of them didn't go in.

Messi will at least end the season with another league title under his belt. Many expected so much more however and they've had their say on social media.

One commented: "The goalkeeper wasn't going to save that he's so unlucky."

A second added: "That would've been the match winning goal. He's cursed fr."

Someone tweeted: "NAHH MESSI IS CURSED HOW MANY TIMES HAS HE HIT THE POST?"

While a third put: "I’m sure he has hit the woodwork about 30 times this season."

In reality Messi has hit the woodwork ten times this campaign and he's not scored in his last three.

The 34-year-old can hang his hat on 13 assists though.

Marquinhos opened the scoring inside six minutes after turning home an Angel Di Maria cross.

Neymar then doubled PSG's lead from the penalty spot after Kylian Mbappe was hauled down in the 25th minute.

Nuno Mendes' error allowed Troyes back in the game as Ike Ugbo latched on to his wayward backpass.

Florian Tardieu scored a penalty of his own to equalise after Presnel Kimpembe fouled Renaud Ripart.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino won't be happy with a third successive draw but he liked the performance of his attacking players.

"I think we had a good game," he told Amazon Prime Video in his post-match press conference.

 "We made two mistakes, that's why we didn't win. We dominated the game, we had chances but those two mistakes cost us the three points."

PSG return to action against Montpellier on Saturday evening.
