Lionel Messi's Father Drops Massive Barcelona Return Hint In Honest Statement

Lionel Messi's Father Drops Massive Barcelona Return Hint In Honest Statement

Jorge Messi's answer interested a lot of fans.

Lionel Messi's father, Jorge, has hinted his son may return to Barcelona after failing to settle at Paris Saint-Germain.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner swapped Catalonia for Paris last summer with Barcelona unable to sign him to a new contract due to financial issues.

He's found it difficult in France, managing just six goals and 13 assists in 25 appearances.

Spanish Twitch channel Jijantes FC managed to speak to Jorge after he'd returned from France and they asked about Messi's status.

Messi Sr. managed to stay professional throughout before admitting he "hopes Leo can return to Barcelona, one day."

The 34-year-old has won Ligue 1 but been criticised for failing to help PSG advance in the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were eliminated in the round of 16 by Real Madrid and Messi had a penalty saved in the first leg.

Tensions reached a boiling point after that tie and Messi, along with Neymar, was booed by PSG fans inside the Parc des Princes.

There is an element of bad luck on Messi's side too. The Argentina international has hit the woodwork an astonishing ten times this campaign, so his small goal tally isn't down to a lack of effort.

He did drop maybe his best performance in a PSG shirt during Saturday's 4-0 win over Montpellier.

Messi scored a brace for the first time since moving to PSG and both goals came in the opening 20 minutes.

The winger finished off a lovely team move for the opener before rounding Montpellier goalkeeper Dimitry Bertaud for his second.

Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe also got on the scoresheet in a thrilling performance.

18-year-old winger Djeidi Gassama made his debut late in the second half after replacing Di Maria, who has been linked with a big money move to Juventus in recent days.

"It’s a real satisfaction, it was a very good performance,” Pochettino told PSG's official website.

"I think we started the game well, we played well, I’m happy and I feel satisfied at the end of the game.

"It was important to show our status, Paris Saint-Germain deserve to celebrate this title.

"It’s important to finish this season in the best possible way. It’s just as important to finish with a good feeling, for the future of the club."
