The Anfield club have endured a tumultuous and disappointing season this term.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently languishing in ninth place, ten points adrift of the Champions League spots and some 21 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

The club’s disappointing form has been truly unprecedented in the Klopp era.

Since joining in October 2015 Liverpool claimed their first Premier League crown in 30 years, won their sixth European Cup and picked up a domestic FA Cup and Carabao Cup double.

Such success has been influenced by the charismatic German manager but has also been driven by the leaders in the Liverpool dressing room.

Robertson on his Liverpool teammates

Robertson is part of a six-player leadership group at Liverpool, alongside Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Trent-Alexander Arnold.

The Scotland international, who was voted into the contingent in 2021, laid bare the characteristics of each individual.

Notably, the 28-year-old labelled Milner as “strict” and claimed Alexander-Arnold was a surprising leader given his age.

Speaking on the ‘We are Liverpool’ podcast Robertson said: “We all have different ways of leading.

“Hendo can carry the team, he can look after everyone pretty much, that’s always been the way.

Millie can demand standards, he can give you a rocket if you need a rocket, in a nice way. Virgil is always commanding at the back and can talk.

“I can help the lads out. I try to help the younger players but also demand standards as well.

“Trent is obviously still young, but he is also a leader in every way. Every young lad that comes up to train with us looks at Trent and thinks, ‘I want to follow his career path.’”
