Everything you need to know about Liverpool vs Bournemouth

Liverpool host Bournemouth at Anfield today off the back of a disappointing defeat to rivals Manchester United on Monday night.

The Reds will be looking to bounce back from that dour performance that leaves them seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been heavily criticised for their display in Manchester and are now without a win from their opening three Premier League games.

The shortage of midfield options cost the Merseyside club, and Klopp may not be left with much more at his disposal in this game, as they bid to get their first victory of the season against newly promoted Bournemouth.

The Cherries themselves are off the back of two humbling defeats to Manchester City and Arsenal, an 180 minutes where they conceded seven goals without reply.

But thanks to an opening day three points over Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa, Scott Parker’s side aren’t quite in dire straits.

Here’s everything you need to know about Liverpool vs Bournemouth.

Liverpool Team News

Klopp still has an extensive injury list to contend with. The Reds are without Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ibrahima Konate- all of whom are suffering from significant knocks.

Naby Keita was left out for Liverpool’s trip to Old Trafford amid links he’s looking to leave the club, but it was confirmed that this was due to a fitness issue. He will be assessed ahead of this game.

After Darwin Nunez was dismissed for headbutting Joachim Andersen against Crystal Palace, he missed the United game, and will serve the second of a three-game ban in this one.

Bournemouth Team News

Star striker Dominic Solanke was left out of the game against Arsenal but is expected to return for this one to face his former club. The forward netted 29 times for the Cherries in the Championship last season.

New signing Ryan Fredricks has missed the start of the season but will be assessed ahead of this one and there is growing optimism that he will be involved.

Other than these minor issues, Parker should have a largely unhinged squad to select from.
