Chelsea eye up £51m Brazilian wonder-kid who Liverpool 'sounded out'

Chelsea eye up £51m Brazilian wonder-kid who Liverpool 'sounded out'

Liverpool and now Chelsea are interested in 16-year-old Brazilian Endrick

Chelsea are now looking at bringing in teenage sensation Endrick, who Liverpool have shown interest in this summer.

The Blues have recently signed midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa in a £20m move, and new owner Todd Boehly is keen to invest in the youth market to ensure the long-term stability of his new asset.

Endrick - a 16-year-old who burst onto the scene in the 2022 Copinha for Palmeiras and won the best player award (in an Under-23 competition) - is now top of their list.

He scored an absolutely outrageous goal in the quarter-final too, which went viral on social media.

The Athletic reported Chelsea’s interest in the youngster, but Jorge Nicola also believes that Liverpool are among the forward’s admirers.

“Liverpool have sounded out the possibility of making a proposal in the future”, he said, translated by Sport Witness. “But didn’t go further, for now, than a question.”

Sky Sports have also claimed Liverpool want Endrick. Though, it’s worth mentioning that those two reports came when the striker was still 15.

On turning 16, Palmeiras signed Endrick to a new contract that increased his release clause to £51m, per Fabrizio Romano. The Brazilian side may well ask for the entire amount in order to sell their prized asset.

Liverpool did register interest in two big-money young Brazilians in the past, and both have gone on to be roaring successes.

In fact, Vinicius Junior was the stake in Liverpool’s heart as they lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Rodrygo was the other, and if it wasn't for his late heroics against Manchester City, Los Blancos would not have reached the final.

At such a young age it is difficult to really predict what Endrick will become. He hasn’t stopped developing, and at such a formative period, it may be seen as a big risk for a club to shell out such an extortionate amount of money.

However, if Endrick does become the roaring success he is tipped to become, £51m may seem like pennies.
