Chelsea could unleash ex-Tottenham forward alongside Mudryk against Liverpool after £29m deal agreed

Chelsea could unleash ex-Tottenham forward alongside Mudryk against Liverpool after £29m deal agreed

Chelsea have agreed a £29 million deal in principle with PSV to sign Noni Madueke, according to reports.

Chelsea have agreed a £29 million deal in principle with PSV to sign Noni Madueke, according to reports, and now face a race against time to complete the signing before they take on Liverpool on Saturday.

Sky Sports have reported that the Englishman is set to travel to London for talks with Graham Potter's side after a fee was agreed between the two clubs.

They add, however, that there are still areas to sort out as part of the deal, which would see PSV sell one of their other top stars to an English club in January.

Liverpool swooped to sign Cody Gakpo from the Dutch giants at the beginning of the month, with the 23-year-old now established as part of Jurgen Klopp's first team.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have already completed five signings this window, with Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Benoit Badashile headlining the incomings.

Madueke would be signing number six - and he may be able to play against Liverpool if he joins Chelsea in time.

Can Madueke play against Liverpool?

The answer is yes - but Chelsea will have to be fast in officially completing a deal, then registering the 20-year-old with the Premier League.

They have to complete official documents by 12pm on the day before they face Liverpool, which is Friday.

While unlikely, therefore, Chelsea could put the finishing touches on negotiations with PSV and authorise the deal before the deadline, to allow him to be in contention to make his debut for Graham Potter's side.

And the ex-Tottenham youth player could line up alongside Mudryk if that is to be the case, with the Ukrainian star in contention to make his own debut against Liverpool after signing from Shakhtar Donetsk.

He completed a deal on Saturday for a fee of £89 million, with the Blues producing a late swoop to beat Arsenal to his signature.
