Jurgen Klopp Reveals His Plans For Liverpool Summer Signing

Jurgen Klopp has recently spoken about his plans for Liverpool's ‘fantastic’ summer signing Fabio Carvalho

Jurgen Klopp has recently spoken about his plans for ‘fantastic’ summer signing Fabio Carvalho and the Liverpool manager seems ready to try the star boy out in a number of different positions.

The 19 year-old arrived from Fulham this summer for a fee of up to £7.7m, after signing a pre-contract with the Reds in January.

Carvalho had a breakout season in the Championship, scoring 10 league goals as the Cottagers raced to the title.

Klopp’s persistence to bring the Portuguese-born forward to Anfield clearly indicates the high regard he holds Carvalho in.

He also praised Fulham’s manager, Marco Silva, for the style of play he managed to implement in the Championship.

‘Fabio, wow, what a season he played with Fulham,’ Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.

‘Getting promoted, football-playing, properly football-playing, is not easy.

‘So, Marco Silva obviously did an incredible job there, but a big part of that was absolutely Fabio. And Harry Wilson obviously, our former (player), and Neco (Williams) of course.’

One of Carvalho’s most valued attributes is his ability to play most roles across the front line, a trait that many other of Liverpool’s current forwards also have.

Klopp’s short-term plan for him is to cover multiple positions up front, but the long-term plan will be for Carvalho to discover and cement a single position.

‘When we watched him it was a pure joy to watch him, absolutely.'

'He can play so many different positions for us, the way we play,’ Klopp continued on his new signing.

‘At the minute he’s not really set on one position — it’s the wing, it’s the eight, it’s the 10, it’s the false nine if he grows a few more muscles.

‘It’s a short-term and a long-term project; he can start tomorrow and he needs to adapt, you can see that a little bit, but when he has the ball that’s proper quality. I’m over the moon that he’s here. Fantastic prospect.’
