Liverpool Fans Aren't Happy That Anthony Taylor Has Been Named Referee For Premier League Title Decider

Taylor is from Greater Manchester but his allegiances don't lie with Manchester City or Manchester United, which isn't stopping complaints.

Liverpool fans have been left less than impressed that Anthony Taylor has been named referee for their final day of the season game with Wolves.

Jurgen Klopp's team know they need to beat Wolves on Sunday to have any chance of continuing their hopes of winning a quite unbelievable quadruple, by securing the Premier League title.

They also need Manchester City to drop points at home to Aston Villa, really hoping that Steven Gerrard once again pull off some heroics for them.

Liverpool fans will have been living in hope but they definitely seem to have had some of it ripped from them with the announcement of Taylor as the ref.

The official is born in Greater Manchester and, despite supporting non league Altrincham FC, that means he's an enemy to Liverpool fans.

It isn't the first time that there's been a complaint that Taylor is in charge of one of the Premier League's two Manchester clubs in a big game.

Earlier this season Liverpool fans complained ahead of the game when the 43-year-old was put in charge of their match against City in April.

However, it was fans of Pep Guardiola's team who were left annoyed at the official, after he failed to produce red cards for two incidents.

City fans felt both Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara were lucky not to be given their marching orders in the second half of the fantastic 2-2 draw.

It's not the only time this campaign that a set of fans have accused Taylor of bias against their club in the favour of Liverpool either.

Back in August, Reece James was sent off for a handball on the line in Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Chelsea, and Blues' fans claimed the official had it out for their team, citing several examples.

So perhaps all is not lost for Klopp's team ahead of the weekend's must win match, and maybe Taylor isn't as biased as people seem to be suggesting...
